You will need to register like any other OYS sport. There is no registration fee or cost to participate in the OYS Tomahawk League.
OYS will provide players with hats and jerseys. Each team will also have a team bag with gloves, helmets, balls, bats, and a tee. Buddies are individuals who assist Tomahawk athletes in the areas of batting, base running and defense, but only as needed. Often buddies are peer athletes who are participating on a typical OYS baseball or softball
Most games will be played on Friday, but some may be played on Thursday. Games will be at 6:00. Games will be played against other similar teams from Clear Fork, Mansfield, and Fredericktown. The Tomahawks may also play a typical OYS baseball or softball team. Games will be played in Ontario (Marshall Park), Mansfield (Sterkel Park), and Clear Fork (high school softball field).
Practice will be once a week starting in mid to late April. Games will start in the middle of May and the season will end by the last week of June. There are normally about 8 games in a single season. The teams will play for one hour, or typically 3 innings. All players will get a chance to bat per inning. If they can, players will hit a thrown ball. After 3-4 pitches a tee will be brought out for the player to hit. Buddies will help players run the bases. Defensively, buddies will help players field and make throws to first base. Defensive positions will likely change each inning.
